Online nehiyawewin: Cree Language Classes - Canadian Native Friendship Centre

I recently came across this class being offered through the Canadian Native Friendship Centre and the Edmonton Public Library. I could not believe my good luck.  As a teacher, everywhere I go I come across children whose family's first language is Cree. I decided to take this class because I want to be able to speak to my students in their own language so that they feel respected.  One of the schools I volunteer in as a remedial reading and writing support person has many children who speak Cree. I also developed an amazing connection to a little boy whose family spoke Cree. This boy was afraid to speak his language and share it with the class.
