who am I, and why might I be a great addition to your team?

What could possibly make me that stand out educator who your students, teachers and parents would want to share their days with? I believe it is my life lived perspective, and my unwavering determination to find my place as a teacher and colleague in a school community like yours.

My journey leading up to today has been a long and exceptionally educational one. I obtained my teaching degree years ago; however, at the time, educational cutbacks and life circumstances set me on a different career path.

Over the years I have not ventured too far from my first love, which is connecting with kids who need extra support. I have spent many hours volunteering in schools as a remedial reading and writing support person, I have continued to read countless educational psychology books, and attend educational workshops, plus I continue to raise two wonderful children who are on either end of the academic and behavioural spectrum.

However, I continued to long for the day when I could share my passion and enthusiasm with an entire class of my own, as well as become a committed and integral part of a teaching community.

In the Fall of 2019 life opened up for me and it was finally my time to pursue my dream of teaching. With this I registered and completed three courses and an advanced practicum in order to update my interim teaching certificate.

Much has changed in the teaching world, specifically our perspective and respect towards cultural and academic differences; I like these changes, they have solidified and deepened my passion for teaching.

Ask "How will they learn best?’" not "Can they learn?"
